of 2 km from the port. The collection is exhibited within a
total land area of 10.235 m2, in a closed exhibition base area of
130 m2. The building is constructed in line with the
traditional wine-grove cottage design of the island.
The aim of the center is to illuminate the local history of Bozcaada; by making
use of all kinds of original documents and objects of Greek, Roman,
Byzantium, Ottoman, and Turkish cultures; to make display to all
visitors how the different cultures and people had their share in
the shaping of local colour of Bozcaada in all its variety. The primary aim of the center is to
improve the awareness about historic and present-day cultural qualities of Bozcaada and to derive great pleasure from
this understanding. We expect our visitors to see our collection as a cultural inheritence which
can be used to develop relationships between cultures. The understanding that two people with different
languages, religions and cultural traits have been surviving
together on this island will enhance the respect for cultural and
ethnic differences.
The collection owned by the center comprises of the following subject
headings: Maps and Engravings, Postal History, Postcards,
Photographs, Viniculture and History of Wineries, Documents,
Seashells and Ethnographic Products of the region, Bozcaada-Troas.
